Cargo Bikes – Copenhagen’s Bicycle Culture

Cargo bikes are, probably, the purest expression of utility cycling. They allow for that bit extra – carrying two or more children, bulky loads, whatever you can’t fit on your everyday bike. The environment you cycle in needs to facilitate bigger bikes, something that is often lacking in Dublin. Hopefully, that will improve as use of cargo bikes increases – several city centre companies are doing delivery by cargo bike now to avoid traffic, for example. There’s also the Irish Cargo Bike Championships, which are in their third year and doing a lot to promote the cargo bike as an option.
